Martian Chronicles

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 1801 (Jan. 26, 2009).  The image was taken after a drive as the rover attempted to get onto the top of Home Plate. The two largest rocks in the image are between 20 and 30 centimeters wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used to make this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
